Ambos Requirieron Meses, y Largas Horas de Minucioso Trabajo. ________ Virgin Mary's Tunicle was elaborated by Mom using the graduation gown I wore when I graduated as a Chemical Engineer from NJIT. Virgin Mary's Mantle was also painstakingly handcrafted by Mom. Mom invested months, and long hours of work carefully handcrafting both.

El lento recorrido desde la iglesia de El Calvario toma mas de 3 horas. En cada cuadra, La Procesion es reposada, y la gente tiene la oportunidad de observarla detenidamente. ________ The slow trajectory from El Calvario, takes more than 3 hours. On each block of the approximately 500 meter route, 'La Procesion' is stopped, and layed on the ground. Curious onlookers take the oportunity to carefully observe the float carrying Jesus.

Un encuentro conocido como 'Las Cortesias', en el cual las andas cargando a La Virgen Maria, y a Jesus, son puestas frente a frente, e inclinadas hacia el frente. Alfombras hechas de aserrin teñido con brillantes colores, reflejan el colorido de este dia especial. Un enorme proceso envuelve la elaboracion de estas alfombras, el aserrin (pedacitos de madera) es teñido con brillantes colores hechos de materiales organicos, y moldes son usados para formar las figuras. Una vez terminado el trabajo, cuidadoso monitoreo es necesario para preservar la integridad de estas Obras de Arte, ya que el aserrin debe mantenerse humedo. Como se muestra en la foto, ramas de pino pueden darle un toque final a la decoracion. _________ 'Alfombras' made with 'Aserrin' (finely grounded wood chips) reflect the colorful tradition of this special day. A lot of planning goes into the elaboration of the 'Alfombras'. The wood chips are dyed in bright colors and, custom made templates are used to form the symmetric figures. Once finished, careful monitoring is used to preserve the integrity of these masterpieces, as the wood chips must be kept wet. As shown in this picture, pine shrubs may finish the decoration.
